Protecting Costa Rica's Pristine Rainforest Wilderness

Celebrating Bob Buckters Legacy in Conservation

“Over 30 Years of Environmental Stewardship”

“I have been passionate about rain forest conservation in Costa Rica for 31 years. I own and protect a 1,000 acre natural primary and secondary parcel in the central west coast set back up in the mountains above Manuel Antonio National Park.  My son Bobby has joined me on the same mission.  There are only a handful of people living in the area.  We do not allow cattle or housing development.  We have caretakers, private park rangers, and sometimes volunteers who constantly discourage poachers who try and take or kill our animals, also stopping their attempts to cut down trees on our so called Finca Cerro Nara (Cerro Nara is the name of the mountain).  In the year 2000 I built a rustic two floor wood rain forest lodge respecting Costa Rican architectural style high up near the summit of Cerro Nara which is about 800 meters or about 2600 feet above sea level, and it is at least 15 degrees F. cooler than coastal areas.  We get around 400 inches annual rain, which we have measured daily since 2007 making this  one of the wettest spots in the world.  We do have a dry season January – March.”
– Bob Buckter

We want to invite anyone who wishes to support Bob and his efforts to join our foundation to provide better support to the environment.

We are pleased to announce our nonprofit has matured into a foundation, and we are creating a brand new nonprofit registration to accommodate our expansion and our next big moves

***This means we will be involved in both 501(c)(3) nonprofit and foundation activity with multiple groups accross many projects and programs. To find out more, click here: *How TCN Nonprofits Work****

Infrastructure of The Bob and Friends Foundation and Team Cerro Nara

The Bob and Friends Foundation is made of of Bob Buckter and a select group of foundation members. This is for larger donations

Subidiary groups and fiscal sponorships opperate alongside or within, such as the ‘Bob Buckter Conservation Corps’, ‘Victorian Aliance’ and more.

We also directly support Team Cerro Nara with this group.

Team Cerro Nara is, as of 2026 a brand new nonprofit that is meant for the bulk volume of donations gowing towards our efforts in environmnetal stewardship. Nothing has changed regarding projects and programs, just the EIN registration and donation pathway to new bank accounts.

Please contact us if you have any questions.

Consider taking our offer to participate in this beautiful opportunity to support environmental stewardship. Right now, you can get a one week stay at our lodge for donations of $5000.

Protection

Stewardship

Biodiversity

Team Cerro Nara Conservation works to build holistic stewardship of Costa Rica’s Central Pacific mountain regions, protecting watersheds for both Rio Naranjo and Rio Savegre landscape and beyond. We are on the ground, working hand-in-hand with local communities, private land-owners, and global leaders to further the work to build more biological corridors so nature and people can thrive into perpetuity.

Team Cerro Nara Conservation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Who We Are

We are Team Cerro Nara, a group based in Costa Rica dedicated to the reciprocal adaptation and integration into the ancient natural systems of our planet.

Through our programs and projects, we actively integrate all aspects of sustainability to maximize our impact.

Our Mission

To conserve biodiversity and globally significant ecosystems of Central Pacific Costa Rica by implementing ecosystem stewardship, providing access to primary rainforest for scientific study, education and training, and creating sustainable economic opportunities to local communities in Costa Rica and abroad.

Our Vision

To train and implement holistic stewardship for the environment and communities to thrive in perpetuity.

Our Work

Ecological Conservation and Restoration

We use comprehensive programs to fulfil our projects with experienced and dedicated individuals to train new leadership in the fight for regenerating our planet. This is accomplished through seasonal activity in summers and winters operating as forest architects and park rangers.

Since 1998

Our ongoing work and goal is to immerse researchers, students, and visitors in the ancient wilderness of Cerro Nara and Los Santos Primary Rainforest Bioregion.  Our focused conservation efforts stretch from the mountaintops to the sea.  Within our private rainforest lands, we are protecting two major watersheds – Rio Naranjo and Rio Savegre bioregions.  Operated by boots-on-the-ground training, education, and stewarding research opportunities, deep within primordial, rainforest bioregions.

Scientific Strategies for Real-World Impact

1998 -Present Day

Using Analog Forestry practices, our collective of private land-owners, who make up the Pro Nara Association, have actively restored riparian ecosystems along the rivers and streams, and built biological corridors, planting trees from the top of Cerro Nara rebuilding habitat connectivity between lowland and highland protected areas. From mountain to sea in Manuel Antonio National Beach Reserve, where the Rio Naranjo river initiates and flows into the Manual Antonio beach region.  Additionally, in a second watershed region from top of Cerro Nara mountain region, down to the Savegre river ecosystems.

Since 2003, our ongoing work and goal is to immerse researchers, students, and visitors in the ancient wilderness of Cerro Nara and Los Santos Primary Rainforest Bioregion.
